Students with Special Needs
The Institute will make every effort to accommodate students with special needs who may require alternate arrangements to write the final examination.
Students can obtain the Special Needs Request Form by contacting the Member Services Department at 1-866-362-8585, or their local Institute/Chapter Manager. Local office contact information can be found on our website at www.insuranceinstitute.ca.
In order to provide special accommodation, full details regarding the nature of the special need or disability and how it affects writing the final examination must be submitted to the Examinations Department at the time of registration for the course or examination. Medical information will be requested and is required in order to assess and determine the nature of appropriate accommodation. No medical information will be shared with other parties.
When the appropriate accommodation has been determined, information indicating the required modification will be communicated from the Examination Department in the following way:
1/ The student will be notified by e-mail or phone
2/ The student’s local manager will receive information in order to facilitate the accommodation
3/ The onsite Examination Supervisor/Proctor will receive an accommodation form detailing the modification, along with the examination
PLEASE NOTE: If you are a student in a fulltime insurance program, the Insurance Institute policies and procedures for accommodation are separate from those of the fulltime program and must be adhered to.
